Jesus’ longest continuous teaching is found in the “Sermon on the Mount” (Matthew 5-7). These chapters beautifully display how the King - Christ Himself - teaches his weary and wandering (but beloved) subjects on the ways of the kingdom of God. Not only are some of Jesus’ best known teachings here (ex: Beatitudes, Lord’s Prayer) but the core elements of discipleship today and what the kingdom of God is and is not, and how we are to live as citizens of heaven, here on earth “on earth as it is in heaven” are revealed here.
